A Project by Natalia Boey
Sleepytime is a self-quantified project where I track, compare and contrast my sleep hours against the average in order to determine the factors that affect my sleep. As a currently (un-diagnosed) struggling insomniac, I struggle with sleeping consistently a lot and it has affected my day to day activities every now and then. When presented with the options to find data, I knew I wanted to do something related to sleep as it was also perhaps about time I found patterns in my sleeping habit. As someone that has problems with sleep, I’ve used a few (free) apps before that track sleep but because they were free, they didn’t work that well as the features were really limited. The UI however, always piqued my interest as they usually had unique variations and data points that you don’t see in regular graphs.
Data
Using a period of about 2 weeks from the start of the project, I tracked my sleeping hours using Apple's built-in sleep function within the Health app. I also self tracked my sleep quality on a rating of 1-10 for those days, using a set of precedents that I have set for myself.
